Audrey stood in the office leaning on the secretary's desk and talking about how excited they were for the Christmas break. "Three more hours to go," Audrey said beaming an innocent smile. It wasn't that didn't like children, she would not have gone into teaching if she didn't, but it was the fact that her Mom was coming to visit, as well as her Dad (without the step-mother) and her grandparents. She could show them the loft she had bought and everything, the things that she did without their help.
Audrey looked up when the door opened and stepped out of the way when a student came to the secretary to ask her a question. Out of pure boredom, and curiosity, she walked over to the little cubbyholes that were supposed to be used as mail boxes for the teachers to see if anything was in them. Just one note from a student asking for extra help with their singing, it was too bad they didn't leave their name on the note.
Audrey suddenly wished there was someone else to talk to as she glanced over at the secretary who now had a line up of students to ask questions.
